Telangana Postpones SSC Exam again, No Exam on June 8

Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday decided to postpone the remaining SSC public exams across the state which were due to commence from June 8 through Telangana High Court had granted permission to the government to conduct the exams from Monday in the state except within the limits of the districts of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Ranga Reddy as most of the cases of Coronavirus came from those areas.

The Chief Minister was of the opinion that it would lead to a great deal of uncertainty if examinations were not carried out simultaneously across the state, .

Sabitha Indra Reddy, education minister, told that the Chief Minister was of the opinion that it was best to postpone the exams and conduct them at a later date after reviewing the High Court order and the Covid-19 situation in the GHMC limits. .

According to sources in the Office of the Chief Ministers, CM KCR is likely to hold a review meeting with education department officials on Sunday to take a final call on the SSC exams. .

The High Court earlier in the day while hearing petitions seeking postponement of the SSC examinations and an application from the state government to permit it to complete the exams was not inclined to permit the state government to hold the exams in the GHMC limits. .

A division bench comprising of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice Bollampally Vijaysen Reddy, dealing with the pleas, pointed out that a bare perusal of the data regarding the increase in Covid-19 cases clearly reveals that while Hyderabad, Secunderabad and Range Reddy were the hottest of hotspots, the prevalence of the disease in other parts of TS was either at a moderate level or non-existent. The court said students in the GHMC limits, Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Ranga Reddy districts shall be permitted to take the supplementary examinations later this year as committed by the state.
